MOONSTOMPING (Something for weekend part 2)

When growing up as a Kid in 70's london some great events to me were going to see the sound systems battle at the local y.m.c.a. with my brothers and to watching football when it was £1 for the three of us to get in.On to the sound systems well my brother would sit me on the speakers(dirty litttle 7 year old white kid skanking away), many of the sound systems were run by 2nd generation west indians and set up by thirty year old white skinheads that included security at the events.Sadly the council stop the events claiming it had a racist element forming (how! I will never know a great mix of black ,white asian and greek ).My brother used to get tapes from the dj's and we all listen to them at home , a lot were of skinhead anthems and early greensleeves prototypes.
Bands like madness , the special, Bad manners and 3rd wave ska took the ideas and put them on vinyl for are enjoyment. Future Post will include many of these classic traxs. Kicking off with a couple off skinhead albums
